The 18-year-old Maltese defender, Nicole Sciberras, has become the first-ever football player in the country to join Juventus.
Sciberras signed a one-year deal with Juventus Women Primavera. The team had won the first edition of Viareggio tournament for women’s teams last year.
The senior team has won the last two straight championships. “I believe that it is a step forward in my football career which will continue to help me grow in this sport, of course,” Sciberras told Times of Malta.
“I am really thankful for this opportunity and I will strive to make the most of such an amazing experience,” she added.
The young Maltese player has played two other seasons in Italy and has participated in various tournaments in the country and abroad.
Sciberras played her debut match for Maltese national team in 2018 – a friendly match against Estonia. Coach Mark Gatt is expected to give her a chance in the opening match in Women’s Euro 2021 qualifiers against Denmark.
