The Ministry of Tourism, in partnership with Viacom Velocity International, the branded content, events and ad-agency of Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN), is all set to launch Malta’s first-ever branded experiential tourism franchise: Nickelodeon Treasure Hunt Malta.
The decision has been taken to increase tourist activity and attract families during the Easter school holidays as the Treasure Hunt will be organized from 13-18 April 2019. The event will aim at creating unique Nickelodeon experiences at different locations in Malta.
“Activities will include searching for SpongeBob SquarePants and friends at the National Aquarium, learning through play with the PAW Patrol pups at the Esplora Science Centre, learning to duel with Nella the Princess Knight at the 16th-century St James Cavalier, and joining the pizza-loving Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles at Is-Suq Tal-Belt food market,” an official press release by the Ministry of Tourism stated.
Apart from the above mentioned activities, there will be other attractions like live theatre show, musical show, exhibitions and workshops, etc. The agreement for this event was signed at the office of Ministry of Tourism in Valletta.
“This is an important tourism niche for Malta and we are committed to raise the bar. The Nickelodeon events and parade will also be enjoyed by Maltese children during the Easter holidays,” Tourism Minister Konrad Mizzi stated while addressing the media. MHRA President Tony Zahra and Executive Chairman of the Malta Tourism Authority Gavin Gulia also addressed the media.
Russell Samuel, Vice President, Creative and Integrated Marketing at Viacom Velocity International also spoke to the media and talked about Malta’s potential in the tourism sector and how the partnership between Nickelodeon and Maltese authorities could boost the island’s tourism sector further.
To spread the word among more and more people, Air Malta has also planned to launch a new plane which will be decorated with pictures of cartoon characters like Spongebob Squarepants. An official announcement is expected to be made soon.
Meanwhile, Tourism Minister Konrad Mizzi has shared his excitement regarding the new venture and has said that this event will help in filling the gap in the market for family events in Malta.
